14 x 10 inches, Digital Photography, 2016

My project, Fantasy, explores the culture shock and personal dislocation I have experienced since coming to the US a year ago, and my struggles adjusting to the new world. This work explores many different personality traits I had to develop in order to fit into the new society, as well as the meaning of self-representation present in the masqueraded self-portraitures. The digital photographs featuring myself as a subject in various costumes, poses, and props exploring artifice and fiction, fashion, gender, and race, are a reenactment of my struggle and attempt to examine, understand and bridge the cultural gap between the two worlds.
