60 x 60 inches, Digital Photography with Menstruation, 2018

The menstrual cycle has long been heralded as one of the biggest cultural taboo in many places. For centuries, women have been encouraged to pretend the menstruation that drives the circle of life doesn’t exist. Even nowadays, it is a still sensitive, misunderstood, oppressed, and superstitious issue in Taiwan, and many other Asian countries. In this work, I associate the fact that female menstruation has been severely twisted into a horrible illness by patriarchy society with the prejudice and the stigma that have been firmly inscribed on women, encouraging the viewer to have a new dialogue about female menstrual and the value of women.
