Online sexism isn’t a rare issue in contemporary society. It exists everywhere in the world. Some research has found that instances of online sexism and harassment are often reframed as “acceptable” by constructing it as a form of humor.
In this work, I disguised myself as up as six different women. Each of them represents a stereotype that has been criticized by society and called a “pig woman” on the Internet in Taiwan. The first one is a girl who believes in romanticism. Next is the schoolgirl who got raped by her teacher. Then is a woman who wears revealing clothing. The remaining three are a woman who dresses masculinely, a woman who had plastic surgery, and the Tinder user. My aim in this work is to raise awareness of online sexism and challenge the ideology of the misogynistic culture of the internet.
